Last Friday me along with my friend Manoj and Raghavendran with his father had been to Thiruvannamalai.Manoj and myself started from office at 7:00pm and went to Raghavendran house at 8:00pm , Raghavendran had been to his work and came back at 9:00pm and then we had our dinner at his house and started from his home at 9:30pm.We reached CMBT by 9:40 and go into the bus at 10:00pm.We started to talk about our good old school days and it took us 2 hrs to cross Tambaram.We reached near Thiruvannamalai at 3:30am and from there we had to walk to the temple premises for another 2kms, we got an rickshaw to reach the place. Now we wanted to leave our slipper in a shop and found that all the shops were full and finally decided to leave it around temple chariot where no one will look around it.We went to the temple pond and washed our feet by then it was 4:00am and started girivalam.
Girivalam means walking around the hill(Thiruvannamalai) barefoot.Mutter the name "Om Arunachala" by viewing the peak of the Arunachala hill during the circumambulation.
It is done during night.It is around 14kms and we started , for the first six kms we did not feel anything. we made a stop at the 6th kms and had some sugarcane juice and then we started again for every 1 to 1 1/2 kms I wanted a rest as my leg was paining.Finally we completed by 7:45am.Everyone of us were extremely tiered and wanted a sound sleep , we went to a hotel and had some breakfast and went to the bus stand to catch a bus for Chennai.All the buses were filled before the bus enter's into the bus stand. So we planned to catch the bus before it enter into the bus stand and found there were too many people like us to catch the bus in the similar manner.
And finally we got into the bus and came back to Chennai.
